Dear Hyde Site Council-
I would like to inform you of an amazing opportunity that has been presented to Hyde. We have been asked to be one of five schools to be a part of a Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant (Project Explore) beginning in October of 2016 school year. This is a $12 million grant that is awarded once every 3 years. This grant would support these 5 schools during the 3 year cycle. With this grant, we can provide resources in the hands of teachers and students, professional development, enhance student engagement and learning, purchase technology, instruments, field trips, assemblies, personnel, materials to enhance our theme, etc. But - we do have to make a significant revision in our name. We would definitely keep the International Studies- but we would look at changing "Communications" to something different (ex: fine arts, global awareness ,multi-cultural, etc). We have time to work on the name part. We would blend this in with our International Studies and what we have already accomplished!
I have already brought this to the Hyde staff and they are excited about the opportunities this would provide our students and our school. I would like to bring this to PTO next Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30 to discuss this in more length. I would like to have YOUR input in regards to going for this grant too. Please come to this part of the PTO meeting if you can to learn more about this grant. Unfortunately, I must let the grant office know by Friday, Oct. 16th if we wish to go forward with this grant as a school.
If you cannot attend this meeting due to the short notice, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I have some knowledge regarding this grant, so I will do my best to answer any questions that you may have! What an amazing opportunity for our students and our school!
Thank you for your continuous support.
